Description: Full blown action splash page for Savage Sword of Conan #228 (Marvel Comics, 1994) by the talented Pablo Marcos (pencils and inks) who executed six pages of illustrations to accompany a poem written by Roy Thomas for this feature. This was the last of those pages - the climatic scene - which features a fantastic image of the triumphant Cimmerian Conan, standing (a full 10.5") aloof with his beautiful companion as they watch the citadel crumble into fiery ashes. This impressive piece was created in ink over graphite on thick Bristol board with an image area of 11.5" x 16". There is some glue residue in the bottom portion where the text paste-up for the page is missing. It is signed and dated by Marcos in the lower right quadrant of the image area. Excellent condition.
