Original artwork for JLA #35 (DC, 1999) by Mark Pajarillo (pencils) and Walden Wong (inks). For the grim tale, "The Guilty" this page presents a darkly introspective scene as the Spectre (hosted by Hal Jordan) engages in a reflective discourse on the roles and interaction of Batman and the rest of the JLA in relation to their beliefs, goals and actions with society at large. The Spectre actually threatens to pass judgment upon the greatest heroic team in all of history due to his unfounded fear that they may commit crimes in the future. Yet, Batman will have none of it.

This scene features prominent images of both Batman and the Spectre in heated dispute as well as Superman, J'onn J'onzz, Plastic Man, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) and Zauriel.
