Description: Original artwork for Captain America Vol. 5 #21 (Marvel, 2006), page 21 by the talented, fan-favorite artist Steve Epting (pencils and ink-wash). From the story "Twenty-First Century Blitz - Conclusion," written by Ed Brubaker. This end scene features Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) still in exile and in hiding after his and Cap's epic triumphant battle with the Neo-Nazi group The Master Race, led by Master Man (Max Lohmer) and the Red Skull's towering Sleeper Robot. Bucky calls Nick Fury to let him know that he is ready to turn himself in and that he will need a new bionic left arm that was destroyed by a ray beam blast from the Sleeper Robot's eye. Notice the Winter Soldier's Star insignia on on left arm of Bucky's jacket (panel three) - a nice subtle touch by Steve Epting. Original artwork from this classic run is highly sought after and very difficult to come by since many of the ideas and plots published herein were adapted by Marvel Comics into the Captain America feature films.
